Use of credit card after mortgage application?

Me and my husband have submitted a mortgage application. We have ended up having to make a payment of £1300 on his credit card since the application was submitted. The credit card has a limit of £6000 with £3000 having now been used.
We queried this with our mortgage advisor who said that as we are using equity from the sale of our house to pay off any credit card debt, the lender (HSBC) won’t have an issue with it. He said we could max out the credit card but as it is being paid off at completion, it won’t matter.
We pay £50 a month off the credit card anyway but I keep overthinking that the lender are going to turn round at completion if they do another credit check and not give us the mortgage.
I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that this shouldn’t be as much of an issue as it is in my head?

Wasn't a particularly wise move imo but if your advisor says it won't be an issue who are we to argue0

If on completion, your credit card will be paid off then it should not matter.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. On the mortgage application the bank would have been looking at the credit available rather than the amount you are using. They need to ensure that you could pay both the mortgage as well as any other debts and there's nothing to stop you maxing out the card the day after you move into your new home.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
