Resolvecall chasing debt from 2009.

Options
Hi all have had a bloke from resolvecall knock today chasing a debt that my partner had in 2009. It was a £5,000 loan that she took out and only made a couple payments before loosing her job and then burying her head.

Either way right or wrong I heard the bloke and went to the front door myself. I explained that I don't believe they have any power to chase this and that the debt is now statue barred but was told that may not be the case because we moved. I explained that we moved December 2022 and that the previous 13/14 years previous we had being in the same property so the 6 years had clearly passed.

He said he has no information and to contact the office but for now to close the door and he will post a form. Which he done.  I have had a quick look online at what to do and have advised my partner to check her credit file for any CCJ's on there. If there isn't am I right in thinking these are just trying their luck and telling them to jog on will be good enough.

On a different note I noticed the guy was recording so asked who the data handler is so I can obtain a copy of the recording under GDPR and was told he don't know the details. I am not 100% on the laws but was always under the impression any one working (unless a journalist) has a obligation to provide data handlers information when requested.

Any help would be great

Anyone written to you about this debt?

Don`t engage with Resolvecall, they are collectors just looking to make a quick buck.

They will be acting for their client who owns the account, when/if they write to you, respond with the statute barred letter, no talking on the phone, don`t talk to them again at the door either.

Thank-you for the reply, I am sure there would have being letters sent but there has being nothing in the last 10 years minimum other than the bit of card he posted after I closed door today informing her to call them urgently with a referenfe number.

She has also had her look at her credit file and there is no CCJ. Apparently she couldn't see anything from either Lloyds or resolvecall throughout her credit file.

Do I get the statue barred template from the national debt line, fill in whags neccessary and then send to them recorded/signed for?

Yes to that last question except that I wouldn't waste a stamp unless someone actually writes a letter to you.

Then you write back to that address
