We purchased our house 14 months ago for 550k and took a mortgage with the Halifax for 144k.

I have seen online the option to borrow more. We are looking to totally refurb the house internally and externally including new drive, relandscaping of gardens, windows, new roof etc.

We don't have any personal debt and pay our credit card off in full monthly, but have some btls, but all with any average of 50 LTV.

We do have a big part of the refurb costs saved but considering borrowing more so that we can do it all in one go.

We are both self employed.

I was wondering has anybody ever gone down this route, and how straightforward is it to get it?
