Statute barred?

Hi all, hope someone can help! I am working through my debts but I have 3 old debts that dropped off my credit file in October2023, however Lowell are chasing me for these debts, they have written to me over the years but I have never responded but would like to know my legal position as regards to if I have to pay these old debts?

When did you last pay them?

England, Wales or Scotland?

We know that the statute barred clock starts ticking at the default date

In a separate rule the entry disappears from the credit file six years after the default date

So if you have never acknowledged the debt by payment or in writing, and they have never started a court claim then the two things happen together: the entry disappears and the debt becomes statute barred

thanks for replies, I have not paid anything for over 7 years and never replied to any letters to acknowledge the debts, think I will send a letter and see what happens! they quite persistent and am worried about them keeping on at me but default date was back in 2017, am in England
