Temporary Contract - disadvantaged in initial and final pay calculations

Not sure what you mean by 'the spirit of the contract'?GenX0212 said:Thank you for all the comments.
Whilst I personally believe their method of calculation is flawed, it will always be to the advantage of the employer and penalise the employee, and is not in the spirit of the contract I will accept that it appears to be common practice.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
The 'spirit' of the contract is that you are paid for a 37 hour working week Mon-Friday. Most would interpret this as 52 working weeks a year for your annual salary. Not finding that the employer counts any 'unworked' Saturdays and Sundays when adjusting your starting and final pay - which you were never required to work in the 1st place.Marcon said:

If an employer offered you a one week contract working 37 hours Monday to Friday for an equivalent annual salary of £52000 then would you expect to receive £1000 for your weeks work or would you expect the employer to adjust your pay and only give you 5/7 of the £1000? That is effectively how they are calculating the pay.
