Thanks Dave_5150 for your reply. I have had look at my Prudential AVC and the cash S3 pen is listed on there. Would you say that one would be as good a low risk as he can get?

Yes, that's the exact fund I'm using for my AVC as I intend to take my pension in the next 12-18 months and don't want to risk the capital.

My strategy too, I intend to take my pension in 2 years 10 months and want minimum risk.

    Thanks for replying daveyjp.
Would lifestyling be suitable for him?
He doesn't want to go high risk. He's in it for the tax benefits only.
If its Pru scheme lifestyling starts 9-10 years before retirement, moving from higher risk to cash.  As others have stated with a 5 year horizon lifestyling probably isn't an option.

I'm not qualified to give finanical advice. But that is the fund I am using to build a decent AVC pot during the three years before I retire. It has worked well for the first two years of that plan to date.

    Thanks guys.
My lifestyling started 4 years ago, another 6 to go all being well. I appreciate no one can give advice on here, just pointers. 5 years in the cash fund does sound like it will appeal to him, it will be his decision.
