I'm not one to tout batteries, mainly due to the poor return on investment for households importing <4k kWh per year but at £4K installed (including Modbus & hardware), this seems like a very attractive price for an DC coupled LG battery. SolarEdge will honour warranties for all installation taking place before 30/6/24.

Really not the right battery technology for indoor/ loft/ stairwell installation. Garage/ Outhouse only. Must be installed by a registered LG battery installer.

I have an LG battery in my loft, not that I live in a hot part of the country.  Why would you advise against?

Latest BSI recommendations against loft installs primarily (Section 6.5.5 states that batteries shall not be installed in ‘voids, roof spaces, or lofts). This is guidance not regulation for now but I hear rumblings that regulations will follow.

It's not about the battery itself causing a fire, the risk of which is pretty low with LFP chemistry, it is the potential risk of injury to firefighters from batteries falling through the ceiling in any house fire, however caused.

Surely a water tank falling through a ceiling could cause a similar injury?  Worse possibly, a full water cylinder is a lot heavier than a battery.  In my old house the hot water cylinder was in an airing cupboard right above the kitchen, which I presume is a fairly likely location for a fire to break out.

I don't think I'd want to be a firefighter under a collapsing roof, never mind what other items it might be holding up...

My first time seeing one up close. DC coupled. Comes with a built in fire extinguisher.

At £4k installed that’s very good, at least £1k below most other 10kw batteries.
Having almost installed mine in the loft I’m glad I didn’t, fixed to wall in airing cupboard instead which is against a main supporting wall.
