I think it's a good prize.
If you know how much these things cost, you would like them just to sell on.
I have lived on a farm for 27 years now and a gun comes in handy sometimes & is fun when Clay Pigeon shooting (google it before you think I shoot pigeon pottery).
But how could you guarantee if you sold it that it wouldn't make it's way into the wrong hands? If it did, how would you live with yourself?nothing to see here, move along...0 -

Personally If I win i'm keeping it but if someone who wins and doesn't want it you could either sell it to a gun collector/ gun shop or to an individual where proof of shot gun license has been seen.
Everyone with a shot gun license gets a visit from a local police (can't remember rank) person to inspect how they are kept i.e. in a proper and secure gun cabinet and the reasons for use are legit.
Measures are in place in this country, were not like America thank god. Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.0 -

well, you could easily live with yourself since you wouldn't be aware that the gun had been sold on to be used in illegal activity. unless, that is, there was a major crime which got reported in the news with the following "police suspect the shooting involved......a fantastic Webley & Scott 1000g over-and-under shotgun! The Webley & Scott, boxlock over-and-under game shotgun is a stunning piece of equipment. With its chrome-lined barrels, 3in chamber and gold-coloured single-selective trigger, Webley & Scott has created a superior deluxe gun. A select walnut stock with a silver finished receiver, engraved hunting scene and gold-engraved logo, makes this an enviable gun to have on any day. Especially if there's someone pointing one at you (now that would make you wish you had one, lol). This weapon is worth 100 pounds"
But I doubt they'd report all that.Win 2008 in 2008 member number.....237!!! Won so far: £0.00

Nothing.
But thats no different to selling a car, whats to say the new owner wont go ram raiding or doing hit n runs for fun ?.
There are measures in place like the license but you have to have a little trust like most things.
There are some nasty people out there but what else can be done apart from things like licenses. As in the U.S. it would be a hell of alot worse if anyone could walk into a store and buy a gun.
We could go on all day :-
A kitchen knife- who's to say someone wont use it to kill someone rarther than cut food ?.
A carrier bag - who's to say someone wont put it over someones head to kill them rarther than carry shopping in ?
If you have no use for the item in a competition or you don't believe in them then dont enter, simple. Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.0 -
when you sell a gun you have to inform the police of who you sell it to, including their certificate, at least round here you do - think failure in any of this, can be up to five years - that includees possessing a gun without a licnceNo longer an accidental landlord, still a wannabe millionaire:beer:
