Remortgage conveyancing cost

Hi all. I’m remortgaging for the first time. Changing lenders and paying a lump to reduce the mortgage to £300,000. L&C (broker) recommended a conveyancer Premium Property Lawyers who are quoting ~£300. However, I’ve left it a little late (mortgage deal ends 2nd July) and im worried one of these cheap firms will take ages?…

Is the new mortgage deal actually saving you £1400 over the product period (or even £300)? Is it definitely worth remortgaging to a product where you have to pay the legal costs? Sounds like a lot of expense and hassle, so it would need a very big difference in the interest rates between the new lender’s rate and a product switch with your current lender to justify it.
