Dividend classified as return of capital - how to report on Self Assessment

in Cutting tax
I've made a mistake on my Self Assessment by declaring a 'return of capital' payment as a dividend. (Despite the company website and general financial press both stating the payment type as "dividend", the broker has confirmed I've to treat it as a return of capital instead).
I'm addition, I sold all the shares in the company before the tax year end and have already paid the CGT / Dividend Tax; to correct the situation, do I now amend the SA and reduce the dividend amount and then increase the share sale proceeds by that amount?
Thanks

Thank you. I find those manuals difficult to get through as they all seem to link to other topics which are similar, but not exactly the same!
If only Govt had any appetite for simplifying the UK tax code...0
