When filling in my tax return, should I deduct NI contributions from the gross earnings mentioned on my P60?

No you should not The P60 shows your taxable income and that is the figure you should enter1

If your P60 is anything like mine the two figures you enter, PAY and TAX are clearly marked.

So do we pay our NI contributions from our taxed income?Your gross pay is also liable to National Insurance contributions. This is also shown on your P60, and every payslip, but has no bearing on your tax liability and no relevance with regard to your self-assessment tax form.0
