How much is the car worth and how much is remaining on the HP? It appears that he cannot afford the car.

If he is on minimum wage full time his take home would be £1,730 a month, if he has one other child then his maintenance would be £200 a month, two other children it would be £250 a month. Or is the money going somewhere else?
