UK tax on earnings in USA

I’m looking at moving over to the USA for work purposes but wanting to understand any potential tax implications of my earnings coming back in to the UK - I’m looking to retain my house here in the UK so would need to pay mortgage etc. 

Is there a way to structure things such that I don’t get double taxed? Really don’t know how this all works! Thanks for any thoughts anyone can provide!

From your questions please seek advice from a tax adviser who specialises in ex-pats. 

The whole area around residency is as complicated as it gets and you have the additional problem in that US has a different tax year from the U.K. 

if you really don’t know how it works don’t attempt to ‘wing it’ - could be costly in the long run.

OP -- In short, you need to take specialist advice, can your employer assist you at all?

In very very basic terms, If you move to the US and become tax resident there, then you'll probably cease to be resident in the UK for tax purposes unless you are returning often for extended periods of time within an individual tax year - will you? If you do end up being dual tax resident then the UK USA Double tax treaty will determine which jurisdiction (or in some cases both) has taxing rights over various categories of income.

When you say bringing earnings "back into the UK" what do you mean exactly?
