Paye and doing a one of side hustle job

Hi im paye paid and i did a job outside my work where i was paid over 1k trading allowence. Its a one of thing and wont happen again i dont think. Do i need to register as a sole trader?

Yes as you earned over £1,000, assuming you were engaged as a sole trader

Yes, as a sole trader. 

You might be overthinking things?  

Perhaps you could explain what you think the issue is?

Ok reading more and as soon as you do a self assessment. you are considered a sole trader. 

My issue is did some one of work and wondering how to declare my income. I didnt know if i needed to register as a ltd or something.

You definitely don't have to register as a Ltd Co., and you definitely don't WANT to do that unless you actively WANT to run a Ltd. There's a lot more legislation around it, and for a one-off job it's neither necessary nor worthwhile.
