Good morning, it's sunny here!
Yesterday wasn't too bad after some showers.
We didn't go out because the weather seemed so uncertain, but pottered on at home.
Your cough sounds bad Gers, I'd thought it was going away.
Bit of a cheek from your cousin, expecting you to travel to Germany when they didn't remember your birthday. As Izzie said, you wonder why you bother sometimes.
No plans for today except going to the quiz tonight.
Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of our poorly people, also Ruby and Dp1 suffering the after effects of Covid.
Take care folks.

Morning All
The sun is shining but rain is due later again. Yesterday turned into quite a nice afternoon, managed to get the grass cut so it looks a lot better.
Back to work today, I'll try to remember it's Tuesday, last time we had a bank holiday I told the children the wrong lunch menu as I thought it was Monday!
Enjoy the quiz Scarlet.
Hope the cough gets better soon Gers. The little one has her cough back - so draining for her.
Must go to the library after work, they have a book in that I reserved. Also need to collect a delivery from Boots.
I called at the allotment on my way home yesterday, everything seems to be growing quite well at last.
Have a good day, take care. XX9 -
Morning folks, it's rather damp here after a rainy day yesterday. I hope that the sun continues for you @Scarlet.Yes, my cough is rather annoying now, I suspect it's part of early hayfever (nasal drip) but it's tiring. @Camelot - it must be awful for your wee one now, littlies have less reserves. As for the Germany thing - yesterday I took far too much offence at a comment from my cousin's wife before remembering that she doesn't have any real grasp on English idioms and sayings. I've rowed back on feeling offended but still not going. Perhaps expecting a birthday card is no longer what one does though a wee text is probably the norm, so getting nothing is not on. My favourite cousin, younger brother, sent me a calming email and then said he's planning a get together next May on what would be his late DM's 100th birthday. That's a definite maybe! As for today, I've already had two boiled eggs and a coffee. Later on I'm doing my final invigilation for 2024 then will wrestle with the timesheet. I've taken a mince like meal out of the freezer, could be bolognaise or could be chilli. Whatever it is will be tasty.Take care everyone. Hugs to poorlies and those still having a tough health time.9

Happy Tuesday - another one here that hasn’t a clue what day it is after a BH
Just awaiting a builder, skip and all-sorts of shenanigans for the next 5-6 weeks - replacing a huge paved area around and the front of the house. I’ll escape to the shop and post office and collect DMs prescriptions once they’ve got started and are suitably plyed with tea!Nothing much else to say - sorry, just plodding at the moment but looking forward to some meet ups with friends at the end of the week.AA9 -
Morning all
Pouring with rain here and set in for the day, I only have one person coming today as one is on holiday and one is poorly, goodness knows what we will do maybe cinema but will see what she fancies doing.
We managed 25 miles on our bikes yesterday I am a bit saddle sore this morning 😳 and the wind got up on the way home and I was freezing cold by the time we got in, I had a hot bath and warmed up but today feels much cooler too feels like October not nearly June !
Dinner tonight will be some meatballs I will make a tomato sauce and cook some pasta with it, nice and warming on such a rotten day.
I need to run the hoover over and get a shopping list ready for tomorrow.
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning all. Dull and chilly here too.
I've got the slow cooker out again and will do the last piece of beef short rib from the freezer.
I have some books to put in a free library but our local one doesn't have room at the moment. I need to drive out to a garden centre so will take them with me and hopefully find one on the way.
Other than that I have a free day, but am out at a pub music session in Bedford tonight so need to leave here before 7pm.
Look after yourselves.7 -
Morning all, the rain is just about to start
I was going to have a bus trip but I can't be bothered getting wet through! Certainly sick of this constant rain thats been ongoing for months. I can't see DH being at work for long.I feel sorry for DGS as he is going away for a few days with his DM/DSD.
On Sunday I cooked a turkey breast joint I got at xmas & chopped up what was left to use for a pie with leek and mushroom for tonight's tea,Yesterday I popped into Lid! to stock up on nuts, & got some milled flaxseed so I may make some crackers with it today. After that we visited our friends for an hour. That's about it really, hope these troublesome coughs go soon.Take care all x

Hi everyone,
We had a very quiet BH and I at last managed to do some sewing. I made a tomato curry for dinner because last week I bought one of Lidl's YS veg boxes which was three peppers and the rest several kilos of their large vine ripened tomatoes (which I buy regularly). They were perfectly good for the most part and I stewed most of them, made the curry and still have several in the fridge. The curry was fine but not tasty enough to make again - there's some left in the freezer which we'll probably have as a side to a meat dish at some point, probably with Madhur Jaffrey's spiced chicken thighs which are delicious but need something with a sauce with them.
Esther seems better so hopefully she wasn't sick enough to cause the mild dehydration that seems to trigger the seizures in vulnerable children. They managed to go out for most of the day yesterday as a family so that was good.
I need to compose an email responding to a proposal by the local authority regarding a nearby school that was closed a few years ago. It has a big listed house at the heart and grounds that were left to the town with an educational covenant. This has now been lifted and the authority are planning to sell it off for housing, despite most of the people in the town wanting it to be used for the public benefit. I'm very cross about it so I'll write and see what happens.
Have a good day.7 -
Morning everyone
Sunny here just now but yet more showers forecast for later. Yesterday I got my plants but had to get the bus home instead of walking as there was a downpour. The afternoon was spent popping in and out the backdoor - alternating planting with reading my Sunday Times indoors. I did eventually get them sorted, but it took all afternoon.
This morning I'm getting the train to Newcastle for another appointment with my denture man, then I'll have a look round the shops. There's a couple of things I need at Primark.
Right I need to sort something for tea when I get back. Hope everyone has a good day today x
