Now back, it's the 3 D's here - dark, damp and dreary.
Yesterday was a terrible day, it rained all day, and the house was so cold we had the heating on for a while last night.
We are doing quite well with our decorating. I find that moving furniture and emptying items for moving take more time than the actual painting. Not that it matters, it'll all get done.
Nanny, I was so pleased to hear your good news, you can relax a bit now.
We will just keep going today, no shopping is needed so I needn't go out.
Hope everyone is ok and has a good day, take care folks.10 -
Morning allA brighter and a few degrees warmer day today. Am meeting up with a couple of my old colleagues today for a coffee and a chat. Apart from that the day is my own!Hope everyone has a good day x9

Morning all. The clouds here are a steely grey. No sun behind them yet. The rains didn't arrive here yesterday, only intermittent and weak spits and spots though I know that other places had deluges.Yesterday I spent three and a half hours in the tyre place. Because of the electronic hand brake it had to be released manually but the car computer system has to be 'cleared' first which took up two hours. The four chaps there worked their socks off the whole time, very impressive. My purse is emptier than it's been for a long while, just as well my pensions arrived last week. 😀
I did a very small top up shop on the way home, a few veggies and some chicken.
My cold is drying up nicely, more importantly the wracking cough has subsided enormously. Because of that I'm going to do my invigilation session this afternoon, we are so short at the best of times.I hope that all went well for everyone yesterday and send hugs for today.10 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Whatever the weather holds for today it can't be as bad as yesterday's offering! Torrential rain all day long and we were scuttling in between the shops before we arrived at our lunch destination. I had a new addition to the menu which was lovely but so messy to eat - halloumi on flatbread with salad and a honey and garlic dressing.
Once home (wet and so cold I put the heating on for a while) I had a long phone conversation with my friend from Oz who has nicely arrived here with her family. We go back to our early teens, she was a bridesmaid for me and I for her. Her younger sister was here a here a couple of years ago (I was a bridesmaid for her also) We have arranged to meet up tomorrow for lunch and a good old natter.
Today I suppose I had better throw the duster and vac around and give the kitchen and bathroom a quick once over.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for our poorlies, sad and lonely. Take care all and stay safe xx

Morning all, thanks Scarlet.I have just got absolutely soaked dogwalking. She was very reluctant to go out in the rain - I should have listened! I too put the heating on for a bit last night, and this morning- just a couple of radiators in the kitchen and living roomI had my little trip out yesterday morning but only bought some sun cream from boots and some muffins from the market. There was a jobsworth inspector supervising a new driver on the bus which was full. He started having a go at 2 young lads who were stood up in the aisle, saying they were blocking the pull down seats. Lad moved away to show him they weren't blocking any seats as there was only 1 at the other end.The man said one of them should be sat on the 1 fold up seat and called the lad an obnoxious little s*d and he'd throw him off the bus. At this point all us pensioners were muttering no need for that etc. so he went back near to the driver. Several people commiserated with the lad, and as I got off I said 'don't let him spoil your day'-' it already has
' he replied. Completely uncalled for and we were still discussing after we got off
Home for lunch, my cousin rang, then school pickup. I knew the long path would be flooded and had put my wellies on. One little girl was wading through about 3 inches of standing water in her lovely shiny school shoes
We just had a snacky tea, I had salad, DH cheese & crackers and a piece of sausage roll from the bakers.DGS has a Cup match tonight, luckily it's an all weather pitch so it'll be another quick tea, but I might make a cottage pie this morning so we can just heat it up later.Bye for now, will catch up later.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all. We also had a cold and wet day yesterday and today only seems to have dropped the wet so far.
Yesterday I ended up helping with childcare for DD, as her husband is up in Chester with work for a couple of days, and then DH went over later to help with the after school and dinner period. This morning she's bringing the baby over here so we'll probably walk up into town for coffee.
Better get a move on and get dressed then! Keep well all.10 -

Morning! It isn't raining...yet...I'm going to do a big fat nothing today, but I might get my hair cut, if I can be bothered. OH and I have some serious thinking to do re the extension [ super expensive now] as to whether or not we do it or change it. We were like kids being given sweeties when we first saw the plans but the cash needed is not in our budget now we've had a quote. We did say what our budget was but obviously, between the architect going over and brexit and covid, stuff has shot up in cost. Oops, got distracted for a bit...Anyway, rethinking and planning to do, but it does mean the rest of the house might not look like a dumpster fire before long
I have a new mission...
Rosy how very annoying, sometimes people just live up to their stereotypes don't they? Gers, glad your car is back from hospital and continuing to keep you safe. Happy invigilating! TA, that does sound lovely though. Izzy, hope it all comes together quickly re the bathrooms! And a handy son to haveTake care today, fingers crossed it doesn't biblically rain again today!
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...9 -
Morning everyone
Grey and drizzly here this morning, but better than yesterday when it was torrential by the afternoon. Little one was delighted that I'd taken her umbrella to school for her to use walking home. My house was really chilly so I had my bath before tea and that warmed me up - I managed not to put the heating on.
I've had a phone call to say the lads from the gardening firm who cut my grass are coming to jet wash the paving stones for me today, I'm looking forward to see them nice and clean.
I've a couple of jobs to do before work so I'd best get on. Hope everyone has a good day x
