Civil Service Reserve List?

Recently had an interview for the Justice Service, They told me i will be put on the reserve list until the end of November of this year.
I understand this means the highest scorers will be offered the job and reserve list is like the subs bench.
Anybody ever heard of a six month reserve list as the last one was 12 months or is it just a random thing they tend to do.

I can only assume that the period the reserve list is active varies.  I've seen previous comments about periods up to 18 months, although that seems excessive.  12 months does seem to be more usual.
