And if this is your first job in the current tax year make sure you get a new starter checklist from your employer and tick statement A and give the competed form back to your employer, ideally direct to the payroll department/person.Savvy_Sue said:

I'd also recommend understanding how tax deductions work through PAYE.
This will ensure your employer uses the emergency tax code (1257L) on a cumulative basis from day one.
