CapQuest & Resolut

So on April the 5th 2024, I received a knock on my door. An agent from Resolut working on behalf of CapQuest. The funny thing is the debt they're seeking to collect was already paid in full in 2015. A debt collection agency came after my Littlewoods/Very debt 3 months before the 6 year limit was reached. Having already paid over £2,000 they are now in 2024 seeking the full amount yet again. At 10:43AM on the 20th May 2024 a message stated that I immediately needed to get in touch with them today. Also I left out the fact that the Resoulut agent scarpered on explaining the situation once I'd called whoever it was acting on CapQuest's behalf. The debt is from 2009 but unfortunately I have no proof of clearing this debt as the collection company went into administration/liquidation in 2016. From what I've been told so far is that CapQuest have a habit of trying to collect none existent debts & using threats & other means to get you to pay up. My question is should I actually contact them to hear them out or just ignore this scum of the earth company?

I would ignore everything short of a formal preaction letter - the sort that comes with a reply form and 30-day limit

If the debt pre-dates 2009, and you say you have already paid it, then if you want to deal with them, a quick letter stating the debt was paid in full, in 2009 and you now consider the matter closed.
Even disregarding the above, the debt would be statute barred anyway, so they are out of luck.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
