I've Damaged my Air Fryer

Might I ask a question about guarantees

I bought a Russell Hobs Satisfry Snappi Air Fryer for Christmas. When reassembling it today, after cleaning it, the connector which joins two baskets together making it into one larger basket it snapped meaning I can no longer use it as one basket.

To insert the divider you have to pull it gently outwards. That's part of the problem,  you might say that I applied to much pressure on the connector and that's what made it snap (my fault) In one sense it would be just my word that I didn't.

Now I'm not looking my money back or a new machine, I'd be more than happy to receive a replacement part.

So where do I stand?

The simplest thing to do first is just to tell Russell Hobbs what you told us.

There's a good chance they will send you a replacement part.

You do have consumer rights. They are between the actual buyer of the gift (did you buy it for yourself?) and the retailer it was bought from. But I would simply try the manufacturer first.

Consumer rights aren't going to cover user damage though.

Would depend upon durability, i.e “user damage” in this case isn’t necessarily the user’s fault, but as it’s likely past 6 months burden of proof could be an issue.

I have an Actifry Airfryer and dropped a can of beans on it cracking the lid. I got in touch with Tefal, the manufacturer and they were happy to send me a replacement lid at minimal cost.

You might even find a replacement part on eBay.

Do you doubt the OP when they say they damaged the air fryer and used too much force?

OP didn't say they used too much force, they said someone one else might say that and it would only be their word to the contrary, hence my mentioning of burden of proof. :)

I think you are right  Sent them a message this morning. I suppose I just wanted some  idea of how to approach the issue
