Hodge bank 'Minimum account balance'

I know that for some banks the 'minimum account balance/minimum opening amount' is the amount at which the account will earn the published interest rate (therefore allowing a £1 'test payment' to be accepted). Others (e.g. Gatehouse)  require the full minimum amount (£1000 for their fixed rates) or they return the payment.

Can anyone confirm which camp Hodge bank is in?

"If You have not funded Your account to the minimum balance within 14 calendar days of application, Your account will be closed and any deposits made up to this date will be returned to Your Nominated Account"

I always sent a £1 test payment anyway. If you get a snooty email telling you that the minimum deposit is £x, you know that the £1 has been matched with your email address, and it is safe to send more.

Wouldn't it be stated on the Hodge website or am I being too logical?
