in Cutting tax
Our son is due to start work in New York in October. He is aware that he will be due to pay tax here as he will have been in this country for 6 months of the current tax year, that he may be due to pay tax in the States and that there is a reciprocal arrangement re tax between the UK and the States. He will be there for at least one, possibly two tax years ( and knows there are rules about how long he can be here during each year so as to not being liable for tax here). He is also likely to come back here to work half way through another tax year. There is also a ' split year' arrangement which may apply.
He has decided he knows enough to know he needs some professional advice to make sure he gets this right. Where should he look to find an advisor with this knowledge?
Many thanks

Can his employer help? If he's with a large company they've likely dealt with this before.
Just in case you didn't know - the US tax year is based on the calendar year, not April to April. I know that can make dealing with things a bit tricky if you need info for the UK tax submission but haven't received it yet from a US employer/payroll.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. He is going to be working for a research institution, so not really big enough to provide this sort of help.
And thanks for the heads up re the US tax year0
