Have you checked your credit report with the three main credit reference agencies? This should hold records of which banks etc. you owe money to (if any). You could call Intrum and ask for details of the account for which money is owed. Potentially is a company which Halifax took over. Maybe it was an affiliate credit hard which was provided by Halifax.0

Don`t call anyone, not a good idea, ever.

Keep everything in writing, send a proper letter, as legally it is deemed to be from the person in question, unlike an email, for example, which could have been sent by anyone.

Have you ever had an account with Leeds Permanent or Birmingham Midshires ? These were merged with/acquired by Halifax and accounts potentially re-branded as Halifax ones.Leap Day 2024 - the day of freedom. The day my pernicious debts finally died.

Don't forget that even if someone comes back with "yes here's the paperwork and the debt is from 2017" you wouldn't have to worry about it as it would be time barred. If you haven't known about it, haven't agreed in writing that you owe it, then they can't collect and can be told to butter off. So this is why you need to be careful how you phrase anything in writing no "I think I owe something", just stick to the "prove I owe what you say".I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Have you checked your credit file to see all accounts and account history? One of my friends had a similar issue and it turned out someone had opened an account in her name - not sure of the details of it or how it was able to happen though, but definitely have a careful check through your report to make sure no strange activity.
