Does car insurance/fuel affect mortgage max borrowing on final application

Hi looking at applying for a mortgage soon but worried about declaring expenditure relating to my car.
Was initially getting £160,000 on HSBC when excluding car insurance/fuel/tax in the 'Optional' travel expense box. When filling in with inclusive of these outgoings, it dropped to £70000...
Car is owned outright but insurance is high (payed annually £1900) because of my age. What borrowing figure is more likely to be accurate and push come to shove could I just stop driving and get the bus or is this unnecessary?
Thanks,
George

I do not have access to HSBC so cant speak about them specifically. But it depends on the lender, some lenders use ONS figures for most things (including the above) so would not need declaring. Others base it on your actual spending so would need to know about it.
Nationwide for example ask about "essential travel".I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I can't see you'd drop £90k of borrowing for £1900 insurance per year, something doesn't sound right. They've not taken it as monthly have they?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
