I've seen on another thread that the conversion rate is (was) 4.3% for a 60yr old, which is the age my wife will be. We'll work with that number until they confirm it.

I have found the correct figures and the rate for a 60yr old is 4.38%. Doing some rough calculations using an annual 3% CPI increase it would take around 17 years for this to 'pay back'. Which we think is pretty reasonable and will be going this route. Thanks to those that have contributed here.
