Payslips and P60: different practice for gross/taxable pay

Five weeks later I forgot to re-read this thread until after I had completed and submitted my wife's self-assessment. I am working off her M12 payslip (P60 not to hand but would presumably be the same) which shows "Taxable pay to date £49,123.03" but on the self-assessment under "Pay from this employment - the total from your P45 or P60 - before tax was taken off" I grossed it up to take account of her 5% net pay pension and entered £51,708. That was wrong, wasn't it?I cannot see how to update a self-assessment. Should it be possible on the same day I submit? Finally, is it right that £51,708 is the figure to calculate salary cap for making additional SIPP contributions?0

It was wrong - resulting in more tax due.aroominyork said:Five weeks later I forgot to re-read this thread until after I had completed and submitted my wife's self-assessment. I don't think so no, you would need to wait a day or three until the return had been actioned at HMRC's end. Then amend it.aroominyork said:Five weeks later I forgot to re-read this thread until after I had completed and submitted my wife's self-assessment. If her taxable earnings are £49,123 then that is her limit for tax relief purposes.
For annual allowance purposes she would include any net pay contributions in the total going towards the annual allowance.
