Hello
Just wondering if anyone has applied for a mortgage with barclays recently and what their timeline has been like? We applied via a broker on Friday so early days but interested to know how long the pain of waiting and the anxiety may last for!

Not yet, but about to start shortly. Had an offer accepted, booked an appointment with Barclays for Friday, but I think I will wait until chain is complete before sitting down with them.
However, will be watching this thread with interest.1 -
I’ll keep this updated, hopefully others will join shortly with their journey.0

Nice - that is quick!!! We have our apppointment later today, and hopefully then approval by the end of next week, if timescales are similar.
How was the appointment? Ours is by phone. Was it all fairly straighforward?0 -
Sure was. We did ours via a broker. So an hour call when we got the DIP and provided all our finance information including supporting documents.
had a second hour call to review all options to us and Barclays came out the cheapest at that point.
Thats pretty much it. We are buying a new build and also part exchanging our house.

How long did it take to get a decision in principle with barclays0

Came back straight away as an accept. DIP was done on 9th August1

Our mortgage application was done today. We are porting across, so after a few questions and a credit check, we came back straight away as approved. No valuation required, as they will do an automated valuation.
He did say the application has gone to the underwriters - so I guess that is final approval, even though we have been emailed paperwork that says it is approved.
Interestingly, we were given the option to repay the balance by 25% before we port, with no ERC, which I never realised was available with porting.0 -
Yep. Been in the criteria for years;-
- Reduced Borrowing – A reduction in borrowing of up to 25% is allowed without incurring any Early Repayment Charges.
