How does one go about buying a new Rolex? To buy Hermes' sought after bags, you need to wine and dine your personal sales rep, buy lower level products; belts, scarves shoes that kind of thing before they offer you a Birkin or a Kelly. How does it work with Rolexes? Is it easier to just fly to Switzerland and find a dealership there?

Walk into a store that sells them?  Seems like even some of the national chains have them advertised.

Apparently there were lots of company directors who took out (multiple) bounce back covid loans of £50k a pop, then withdrawing the money and buying themselves rolexes, or buying their wives hermes hand bags to quickly make that money disappear. They then wind down the company and the owed money turns into national debt. So there is currently a shortage of rolexes and hermes. Basically anything that is value dense but can easily be taken across boarders without attracting too much attention, unlike cash or gold bars

As you might well know based on the recent thread about buying Roles watches as wedding gifts ( https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6516497/customs-rules-list/p1 ), not all Rolex watches are equal.
Some are easily available and you can walk into a retail store and just buy.
Others are rarer and easier for established customers to acquire.  At present, the Submariner has certain special editions that are particularly challenging to source.
If you have come from nowhere and now seeking to buy two Rolex watches as the "his-and-hers" wedding gifts, then that is likely to be subject to scrutiny.
Rolex, like many premium brands, try to avoid selling the rarer options to customers that may be identified as simply potential resellers.

With your experience of all things premium, I am sure you have the relationship with the local reseller that would support ready entry to the waiting list.

Have a look at Harrods website, they have loads of Rolexes  :D.    Is Rolexes the correct spelling of more than one?
