State Pension forecast updated for 2023/24 NI contributions

Options
I’ve just seen that my 2023/24 NI contributions are now reflected in the HMRC app. So others may be updated now/soon.

Nice to see that “You cannot improve your forecast any more” confirmed.

I'm still waiting for my Class 2 to be updated from 2 years ago.
  • I used the HMRC chat on Monday 29th April to find out how much voluntary NI I had to pay for 2023/24 as I stopped working in June 2023. I needed to top up the year (Year 47 for me) to receive the full state pension from July bar a few pence. I was promptly given the amount owed and the reference number required. I paid via Bank transfer. I checked my gateway account yesterday (May 3rd) and the NI payment had already been credited and now my pension forecast is now at the maximum entitlement for myself. I am quite impressed! I now hope that the DWP adjust my figures in time for my first part payment of my state pension on July 31st.
I have registered on the new DWP pensions information website and will check to see if my initial figures have been updated. If nothing has happened by the middle of June, I will give them a call. So, as far as I am concerned, it is looking good.

I am like it seems many others, waiting for 2022/3 to sort itself out, before I file my tax return for 2023/4.

Why are you waiting for 2022/23 to sort itself out before filing your tax return?  What is the connection?

I would rather wait until the system is fixed.  I don't want to be fighting two years where I have paid NI and it is not showing on my NI record.

I have just hit that milestone this year.  I'm 54 this month, with 38 full years contributions.

But that has nothing whatsoever to do with completing your 2023/24 tax return...

I have the simplest of NI contribution records for 2023/24, NIL, but it still says records not yet available.

Mine has just been updated, age 51 and it says I have one more year of contributions to get the full state pension. I will be retiring this summer. I am going to miss out of the full state pension by £3.27 per week. I think I will be ok
