hi everyone
i am new here
i would like to enter the ig competitions
i dont have a ig account yet
do i just set one up and start entering even though i wont have any friends on there
how does it work any advise pls

You would need to set up an account, then you could enter competitions.

Although MSE doesn't allow asking for friends on socia media, other competition sites do.

You need to create an account, it will offer you the opportunity to find friends using FB your contacts, you can yaye or naye to this. But if you say yes you are giving IG access to your contacts and depending on how you feel about privacy you can make a decision on this. 
A lot of IG posts require you to tag friends and often more than one.
I have found if I enter a lot of competitions in a short space of time on IG it blocks me up to 48 hours or accuses me off spamming and then blocks me.
I have entered a fair few competitions on IG but never won one,  hopefully you will have better luck.
