Can you apply for 2 mortgages at the same time?

My property has an offer accepted and I’ve put an offer on a property that’s been accepted. I have a DIP from Mansfield BS on their credit repair product,  I’m happy with due to my IVA still showing on credit file (paid off awaiting completion cert) full application will be going in next week once Aprils wage slip and bank statements have been generated. 

I’m chasing the completion cert daily and was told up to 8 weeks a few weeks back, if this was to drop in in the next few weeks just say and I could get the IVA removed off my credit file is there anything stopping me trying an application with say Halifax? I have sent proof of final payment to credit reference agencies but I’m not expecting them to action it until they get the completion cert but figured it was worth a try. 

Obviously I would speak to my broker and not do this myself but wondered if it’s an option since it will save me a lot in interest etc, I know Halifax move quite quickly whereas realistically I’ve assumed 4-6 weeks for a decision from Mansfield. 

Not looking at completion until beg of Aug for a number of reason, so not time sensitive, but I don’t want to not be applying for anything waiting for things to align hence the Mansfield application. 

Also whilst I’m here does anyone know how reliable the DIP is with Mansfield? I know I meet the criteria in terms of IVA and credit file I guess I just always think of the worse and over thinking it all. I can see they did a search before DIP so I’m assuming any credit issues would have been picked up then
