Have you confirmed with Halifax that they've actually returned the payment to your employer? I'd contact customer services or go into a branch to make sure that they're not just "holding on to it", so to speak.

I have called them a few times only to be told they cannot see a payment that has tried to go in, and ive driven an hour to the nearest branch twice since saturday only for it to be closed to due to staff training or no one there that can help.But today I’ve received a letter from them stating that they will be closing the account, and any payments that are made to the account will be sent back to the sender, so I’m guessing it has been sent back but not showed up in my employers account yet. I’ve checked online and it said it could possibly take weeks! So not great news0
