Waitrose - check your receipt after self-scanning

I recently checked my receipt to find an entry at the end which read V WR DURA BAG 4@ £1.00 which added an extra £4 to my shopping bill.
On investigation I found that at the self-scan checkout I'd accidentally pressed '4' bags instead of '0' bags (the 4 bags is immediately below the 0 bags on the screen so quite easy to make this mistake).
After emailing Waitrose I was promptly refunded by customer services but I do wonder how many people have unknowingly made the same mistake when in a hurry.
It is also disappointing to find that at the two Waitrose stores where I shop, neither store displays the price of these bags. This may be limited to these two stores but if it is more widespread it does not seem to be a transparent or customer friendly policy.
I've asked for feedback from a manager but after 6 weeks nothing has been forthcoming so I thought I'd post to hopefully save others some pennies- small beer I know but across the country it will add up.
I'd be interested to know if anyone else has experienced these problems.

Well, l don't know about Waitrose bit posh for my neck of the woods, but l know the local Morrisons always as the same issue with their 60p bags.0

Self-scanning is exactly that - if you tell the till you've taken things you haven't, then you will be overcharged - there's nothing the retailer can do about that!5

So you "told" the self-scan machine that you'd used 4 bags, and were charged the correct amount for 4 bags? Yes, you pressed the number 4 by mistake, but I hardly think that can be classed as the retailer's fault.Lizard88 said:
