Thank you Molerat, yes I am learning that it is not just about number of years, I did contract out for a while, so I need to find these details and come back to you.  In the meantime DWP are going to write with qualifying years, what's missing and how much it would cost to get full DWP pension. I also understand that as I contracted out for a period, the DWP does not count this but it will probably be worth more than the full state pension.  I have some hunting down of documents to do now.  Will come back with more detail.
Everything is in your Gateway account, you don't need to speak to anyone just yet or dig out any documents.  Between us and the Gateway account, those details I asked for in an earlier post, you will get everything you need to know including what you are waiting for in that letter from DWP. No secrets, no rocket science, just fairly straight forward maths.

At the moment my personal account says I have 6 more years to make up any more NI contributions.  but that is a lie as being born in March the last year does not count so I only have 5.

Why can;t they even get that right?

That number will include 23-24 as it has not yet been reconciled.

I reach my NPA at 66 years and 6 months, my birthday is in September and my last day of work will be 22 March, ergo nearly a year of NI that will not count towards my pension however, due to the vagaries of the transition period I have a full pension forecast with 34 years ( eventually ) of NI credits.
I don’t consider this a loss, I’m lucky to live in this wonderful country.
