Can't take the holiday but still want the cheque

Hello all, I've won a trip to Spain but it's looking increasingly unlikely that I'll be able to go. The trip came with a £200 cheque for expenses, which you get when showing proof of booking. Has anyone before managed to still get the cheque even though they can't go on the actual holiday? Is booking the holiday, getting the cheque, and then cancelling the holiday, an option or does that cause issues later on?

Before booking you better check that you can cancel...Life in the slow lane0

If you can cancel a booked holiday make sure you do not have to repay the cash anyway and/or are not responsible for cancellation fees regardless of not actually being responsible for paying for the holiday. (Time shares used to do that type of prize that was dependant on attending presentation/s)
Have you asked them? Fair chance this was a Bauer competition and you do not want a permanent ban from their competitions.3
