statutory demand/charging order are they the same.

im in need of some advice regarding being issued with a statutory demand order from dcb legal the debt is £8k inc charges.at present nothing as been done but they have a court order that allows them to issue it by email as ive moved and they dont know where i live.
my concerns are that im told they can declare me bankrupt and place a charging order on my home (proceeds from an inheritance) now if that is the case and they force me to sell the house is there a time limit for the house to sell? im reading something about 3 years but i may be wrong.
or could they just leave it on the property until it sells?
also im told from cab that the bankrupcy order lasts 12 months then all debts are writen off but im confused as to what debts will be written off.
im not entitled to do a DRO due to owning my home.
thanks in advance
