Hello everyone,
I've been having some difficulties with a company that I had a website with, I took out a 12 month contract for a website and cancelled the website on the 12th month before the contract renewal as I no longer wanted the service.
Unfortunately the customer service was terrible and despite cancelling my contract and having confirmation emails of the cancellation the company still took the payment for the renewed contract. I immediately contacted the bank and the money was reissued to me and I forwarded the cancellation confirmation to the company asking them to cancel the contact as previously agreed.
A few weeks later I had a credit note letter from the company with a random amount of money, I assumed it was the company trying to get me back so I ignored it, I then unknowingly had that random amount of money paid into my account but I was not aware as I did not check.
I then received an invoice for the unpaid contract renewal for the website, I informed the company I did not owe money, customer services replied confirming I did not and that the invoice was cancelled.
I then received another invoice a month later for this unpaid invoice and a threat of my details being passed to a collection agency if not resolved, I again spoke to customer services and was told they made a mistake, I do in fact owe them money because they accidentally refunded money to my account and my bank also did meaning I had two refunds. I explained to them I have not had two refunds because the amount they gave me was not the amount that they had taken from me and in fact they had given me. Less money. They apologised and explained that they gave a pro rata refund based on me having the new contact for X days then cancelling so I was charged for several days for having the website (this is inaccurate information I cancelled before the contract renewal). I requested a revised invoice reflecting the correct amount of money owed, they declined and requested I pay the full amount of the original invoice, then they would refund me the overpayment. I declined and requested an amended invoice on the basis that it sounds unethical to make a customer overpay for something when that amount is not owed and on the current poor customer service I deem the company unreliable and did not believe I would be refunded the difference. This was their error, I was happy to pay the amount back to them but only on the basis they send me an accurate invoice and I would not pay a late payment fee as the error is theirs.
The company replied they were sorry for any inconvenience and due to the issues and to rebuild trust they will cancel the invoice and there was nothing outstanding, ignore and communications with collections agencies and if I wanted to renew the website in the future please consider them.
I emailed them asking to confirm the invoice to be cancelled, they did not respond.
A few days later I recieved a credit note and a small amount of money into my account approx £7 This means that they have now refunded me the original amount they took from me approx £34 (meaning I have now been officially refunded twice, once from my bank and once from them). No further communication.
1 month later I have received a letter from EVERYDAY PEOPLE FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS, My details have been passed on to them to pay the overdue invoice for the website, the invoice they told me they had cancelled. With a late payment fee added on top.
The company only has my address, they do not know my name or other details from the seems of it.
I've emailed the website company including the email they last sent to me saying they cancelled the invoice asking them why they have since passed my details to them after they informed me that the invoice has been cancelled and no balance is due.
Question is: yes I acknowledge I have been refunded twice for something and I offered to pay it back on receipt of the correct invoice but the company had informed me that the invoice was cancelled and nothing was due and to ignore any correspondence from collection agencies. Do Ignore this letter or do I respond to the company?
I don't want anything to go against me in the future financially, I have no debts and a perfect credit rating. I don't trust the customer service of this company because of how unreliable they have been.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Just a collection company paid by results, they don`t own the "debt" just been hired to collect it, they can`t enforce anything, or do anything but ask you to pay, especially so if they don`t know your name lol !!
You can just ignore them and there silly fee`s.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
