Detached domestic garage over 25 square metres

Options
Hi, I wasn't really sure which section to post this in... but we have a detached garage with a ground floor area of approx 50 sq. m. It has a second floor which has been mostly removed.  It was a commercial garage and is registered for Non-Domestic Rates.  We use it for storage of our own vehicles and some domestic storage.  I can't find any guidance on whether it will be liable for Council Tax if I take it out of Non-Domestic Rates - the only reference to garages is for those less than 25 sq. m.  The garage has electricity and the business rate electricity standing charges are punishing which is why I want to change the status.  Anyone out there got any guidance please?

If it is in the grounds of your home, its value would be reflected in the CT band, which could increase especially if your home has been treated as composite (indicated by (C) next to the entry in the Valuation List). If it is not within the grounds, it cannot be subject to CT.

You really need to speak to the VOA as it will be their decision as to what happens.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
