I have been paying mortgage on what I thought was my house but it has turn out I was paying on my son house on which he has no mortgage on but live beside me

Is the address on your mortgage statements for your house or your son’s?It’s extremely difficult to understand how you could unknowingly be paying a mortgage on another property. Who is paying the mortgage on your house?
Download the Land Registry records for both properties to confirm ownership and which banks have a charge on them.2 -
