how do you change your personal details on HMRC if you can not open gateway account as you can not verify identity

I hope the title of your thread isn't a real name - if it is then for security reasons I suggest you change it.
This suggests that you can also advise HMRC of a change of name via their app, but that may well send you through the same security checks to set up as for the Gateway.
Tell HMRC about a change to your personal details: Change of name or address - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
If you have had any communications from HMRC there may well be an appropriate phone number or email address given there ?
Alternatively you could look or ask on the HMRC User Community forum
