Would love to know which legislation you are thinking of @harebelleHarebelle said:When I ran competitions on my blog I could see how many people came from a particular site, but not where individuals came from, in addition to which it is illegal to disqualify a group of people from winning, I think they just have their hair on fire for some reason, but I wouldn't worry about their threats.3 -
Its not illegal unless it is against a protected group ie sex, disability, age etcHarebelle said:When I ran competitions on my blog I could see how many people came from a particular site, but not where individuals came from, in addition to which it is illegal to disqualify a group of people from winning, I think they just have their hair on fire for some reason, but I wouldn't worry about their threats.

I just found this in t&c's of a Travelodge comp:
" No bulk, machine generated, consumer group entries will be accepted. "I think this means NO COMPERS, clicking through on a link* supplied on here clearly tags you as coming from MSE:https:// travelodge. typeform. com /to / *****?typeform-source=forums. moneysavingexpert. com
(*this comp can only be entered directly from an email link and has been deleted from the forum)
I am now having the horrors about the 1,000's of comps I have entered by clicking through from comping sites and the thought that I may have been automatically disqualified from many of them
🤯😱😬
...although I do think that many don't care as long as they get the hits on their website and marketing signups, I will now be following the sterling advice contained in this thread and using copy/paste/edit on url's 😖
Many thanks to everyone posting here 🤗3 -
I always copy and paste, would they know the source then?CloWithTheFlow23 said:I just found this in t&c's of a Travelodge comp:

Companies are silly to exclude compers, so many things I've come back to buy later as gifts etc, that I wouldn't have even know about if I hadn't seen the item on a competition. I think they forget, we are also consumers.Wins in 2023 - 35

@One-Eye - can you help please?
I always use the "drag to a new tab" method.
I've just done that for this comp and I get a pop up saying "referrer set".
Does that mean that something has changed and "drag to a new tab" now always sets the referrer? (or is the Bonne Maman site lying to me?!)
I'm using Chrome on Windows 11Thanks in advance

Hi @LizB62
If you look carefully at the box that pops up it says "referrer set: "
The colon followed by nothing is important - I think this means that the referrer that has been set is blank/null.
As far as I can see the rules in my OP still apply.

Ah, ok, I didn't spot the colon - thanks for the explanation 😀
