Hi there ... I am helping a neighbour make a council tax banding appeal and wondered what advice/experience can be given to overcome the valuation office objection that he has not made the appeal within 6 months of taking residence in his rented accommodation?  I am sure I remember Martin Lewis stating that was an objection that could be overcome.  Thank you all.

I'm ex VOA and if your neighbour has made his appeal outside the 6 month limit it can never be valid. All he can do is ask the VOA to review his CT band in light of the evidence he submitted with the invalid appeal, If he is relying on house price indices, this will not help him as they are inaccurate and too generalised. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1
