Clarification on salary/minimum wage

Options
Good morning,

Looking for clarification on the following.

I work in retail paid a salary which in the financial year 2023/2024 was £22424 so just above minimum wage (this year will be at the new minimum wage),this is for a contacted 40 hour week.

My employer divides my salary by 12, which I understand however there are 5 months where I work 5 weeks?

Should I receive additional pay these months?for both financial years

Looking forward to any help.

If you are paid monthly then dividing annual salary by 12 months and paying same per month is correct

Are you getting paid on the same day each month ?

Five weeks is 35 days - more than in any month.

If you are paid on the same day each month, then you'll actually have worked four and a bit weeks between each payday (except for non-leap year Februarys, when you'll have worked exactly four weeks).

No. No month is five weeks long - the maximum is 31 days.

If your employer is dividing your annual salary by 12 and paying you 1/12 each month, then by the end of the year you'll have received your full salary entitlement.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

    are you paid  hourly?

or you are paid a salary  based on your  base contracted hours  with the  addition of any allowances  for   unsocial hours  etc  ?

quite often even in 'hourly paid' perm  roles  you are  paid  a salary  +  allowances

and the  salary is   based on 1/12 of your contracted hours being in each month

hourly rate * weekly hours   = weekly gross basic  pay

weekly  gorss pay *52.14 = annual gross basic  pay
