Hello,

I have recently taken out an Halifax loan and setup payment via my Halifax account.

Is it possible to change the direct debit to a different account with another bank or setup standing order to pay?

Thanks

Yes, that shouldn't be a problem.  It you want to pay by DD then just contact the lender, gives them the new bank details and ask them to set up the DD on that account (and cancel the old one).  You may even be able to do this yourself online.

If you want to set up a SO then just do that yourself with your bank (again, cancel the existing DD once the SO is confirmed as being in place).  Though I don't see any benefit to a SO - you may as well let them take the payments via DD, at least then you're covered by the DD guarantee should anything go wrong with a payment.
