My daughter's eyes have been swollen for a week and this morning the bridge of her nose was all puffy. I took her to Dr and he said to take anti histamine every day for a week. She has done nothing different that we can think of. I hope the anti hist work. Has anyone else had this ???

It sounds quite likely, is it persistent or does it go down and come back up again over night?
Could it be something her bed linen has been washed in or face towels? My lips and tongue swell up if I sleep in a bed that has biological washing powder residue in it and my scalp itches for days.0 -
That or something like rhinitis (sp?), that used to affect my eyes as well as my nose.
What antihistamines has she been given?
If they don't work there are more specific things that can be used, PM me if you want more info (not giving medical advice, but can tell you what I take) xGone ... or have I?0 -

Maybe try a different type, not all antihistamines suit everyone or every alllergic condition. There are several compounds, cetirizine hydrochloride (Zirtek and Benadryl), Loratadine (Clarytin) and Chlorphenamine Maleate (Piriton) that are available over the counter so check which one the Numark is and maybe try another, most chemists will sell a generic version which is identical to the branded one except for maybe a coating to make them easier to swallow in the expensive version.
I have used Flixonase nasal spray in the past when I get nasal allergies to dust and pet hair.
Are you absolutely sure she hasn't used any different shampoo, make up, face wash, washing powder, hairspray?
Are her eyes sticky or just swollen?0 -
I've a quite severe allergy to dust mites and just anti histimine doesn't work for me, it came on after I moved offices. Is she breathing ok, anything that seems to make it worse? I found that opening windows helps me, not all, don't want a cold on top of it!
Asda have packs of 7 anti histamine which I was advised to use, think they're around 50p a packet. Hope this helps0 -
thanks for your replies guy. No her eyelids are just swollen and across the bridge of her nose but no soreness or itchiness. The anti hists are the equivalent to benadryl one a day. We cannot think of anything different at all except she went to a friend;s house with a dog but then it should have gone down by now.I want money..........that's what I want !!:j0

It would be odd to still be suffering an allergic reaction nine days after exposure to the trigger. If it was an allergic reaction you would expect the eyes to be sore and itchy, in addition to swollen eyelids. Carry on with the antihistamine, but if there is no improvement by monday I would take your daughter back to the GP - it may be that it's something along the lines of blepharitis.0
