Hi All,

I need an urgent advice on self assesment of income tax.

I recevied a P11D for 2006/07 from my employer for Private Healthcare Insurace. I do not have any other income from any sources.

This is my second yr in the UK and I am not much aware of the self assesment.

I was told by a friend today that I got to declare the amount highlighted as Private Healthcare Insurance in my P11D.

Any advice on this is appreciable.

Have you been issued wth a self assessment tax return (or a notice to complete one)? If so, you should complete it before the 31st January. But many employed people on PAYE do not receive one.

The amount of private healthcare shown on the P11D is indeed taxable but the usual procedure is to adjust for this in your code number.

Do you have the notice of coding handy? If it shows an adjustment for the healthcare then you do not need to do anything.

It might be an idea for you to ring the number mentioned on the coding notice if you are worried. You will be able to settle your mind that all is in order.
