Is it unusual for a company to not announce new salaries?

Good Evening,
I work at a job where I was earning below the new minimum wage which came in yesterday. However, despite me frequently asking management/HR, they have not mentioned the what the new salaries for people in my role (Or anywhere in the progression plan) would be. Naturally this is making budgeting very difficult as I don't know what my income will be this month, let alone whether I think it is a fair income.
Is this a normal thing? Is it common for companies to not confirm the salaries when asked by an employee?

The new rates started yesterday but don't necessarily apply to everyone from 1 April; they have to be implemented from the start of the next full pay period. If you're paid monthly, that could indeed be 1 April, so you should be able to work out for yourself what your minimum pay is going to be.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
