    +1 for correctly inflated Marathons.

But it's worth diagnosing what has caused your punctures in the first place.

I did 7 years of commuting 6 miles each way into the city on roads and bike lanes, Marathon Plus initially 25c then 35c with the winter studded ones for snow and ice - weight aside, they were bullet proof, I only ever had issues mounting them (so got a tyre-jack thing from Koolstop (?)) - managed to run over a wood screw once that went through them and even then managed to ride home on it as I was about 1/2 a mile away and taking it out started the tyre going down as it went into the tube. Had a similar issue towards the end - so tyres done maybe 10,000 miles with a sliver of metal that went through it.

That said, I did use to commute to a previous job with 4 Seasons on a road bike in 25c and rarely had issues with them either and I don't get many problems with GP5000 on my best bike

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • My son lives in a city and doesn't drive, so his bike is his only method of local transport.  The no. of punctures he has, seem annoying to me.  So I took a while one day to check out some YouTube videos on the topic, and it seems that the spokes can eventually work their way into the inner tube area.  I seem to remember there being some kind of tape you can line the ends of the spokes with to help prevent this.  No expert though so go and check out the videos yourself  There's a wealth of knowledge on there.

I have put muc off tyre sealant in the tyres of my ebike and so far so good after approximately 700 miles. I suspect the extra weight might be an issue for a non electric bike but with an ebike it’s fine. It’s easy to put in the inner tubes, you remove the valve core, squeeze in the sealant, re-fit the valve core and pump up the tyre.
I’ve used Schwalbe Marathon and Marathon Plus on my commuting bikes in the past and they are very good, I will be fitting them to my ebike when the original tyres need replacing.
I would be confident enough to not put sealant in when using Marathon Plus tyre.
The previous replies about keeping tyre pressure are absolutely right and I would recommend checking and topping up every other week as a minimum- bike tyres don’t keep pressure as well as car tyres.
