Theory on Consumer Power

Options
My theory is this: as we review the december sales hitting the shops this year because sales in the shops are low. some offering 50% discounts on MP3 players.

So if we the shoppers refuse to part with our cash then the shops lower the prices, hence december sales. If we take this idea on board and stop shopping then the shops will lower the prices. this way we could see shops offering discounts of 50% all year round.

basically, it might be like causing a recession but we the consumers will benefit through cheaper items in shops.

It is probably easier just trying to react to opportunities that arise, than to try and fix the market on a large scale .
I think for MP3's it is more a fact that production costs have reduced and competition between manufcturers is intense.
Focusing on the protest (none purchase )or positive purchase is more where consumer power is at for now .
The people I feel sorry for at the moment are the glitch producers who accidently enter decimal points or who allow multiple discount codes on the same item ....Not so long ago a company may have lost a few items overnight ,before the glitch was corrected ...Now ...Thanks to MSE ,Hotukdeals etc ...They get mobbed ...and there must be a few individuals who go home at night petrified ..
