Adjusted net income help

Dear all

I am confused on the HMRC website as to whether my pension contributions are counting to my adjusted net income.

I pay 12.5% pension contributions net through PAYE.

My total salary is 106.6k.

I had been planning to make extra private pension contributions to bring the ANI below 100k but now I am confused as to whether I need to?

A financial advisor said I would need to do ~6k contributions but some people seem to suggest I don't need to because of the workplace contributions.

Your taxable pay is almost equal to your gross pay less pension contributions (give or take). If that is your only income your ANI is £92644.

Thank you very much. I had thought so but got confused with the FA advising 6k pension contribution... 
My thought would be he advised that to reduce the effect of the personal tax allowance but by the above comment I am below that anyway?

It can't be relief at source as those type of contributions don't reduce your taxable income.

Net pay is more likely (assuming they were contributions you made and not employer ones from sacrificing some salary).

The end outcome is the same for adjusted net income, which determines your Personal Allowance but they all work in slightly different ways.
